Lessons from navigating two worlds while staying grounded.
Moving across the world isn’t just a location change.
It’s a mindset shift. A reset of who you are, how you think, and what you carry with you.
When I moved from Finland to USA, I wasn’t looking to reinvent myself. I just wanted to live, build, and stay true to what mattered, even when everything around me changed.
Finland Taught Me Quiet Strength
In Finland, we don’t brag. We build.
We don’t talk about hustle, we just show up every day and do the work. That mindset shaped how I approach everything from business to health.
- Be consistent, not loud
- Let your work speak
- Stay grounded, especially when things grow fast
Charleston Taught Me to Adapt and Lead
Coming to the U.S. (first to Florida and then to Charleston) forced me to speak up more, stretch myself, and lead in a new context. I had to explain what I was doing, not just do it.
And I had to learn to trust others with parts of the process, even when I knew I could do it faster myself.
What stayed the same? My values. My process. The discipline behind the results.
Personal Reflection
What I’ve realized is that the geography never mattered as much as the principles.
The same structure that helped me succeed in Finland helped me thrive in USA:
- Clear priorities
- Systems over stress
- Show up every day, no matter where you are
And most importantly , stay true to who you are, especially when everything around you changes.
Final Thought
You don’t have to change who you are to grow.
You just need to carry your values with you, and adapt your tools.
Wherever you are, the process still works.
